One of the focus areas that we will have is world language education in elementary school. MCSCS will implement Pearson World Languages Curriculums and textbooks, such as Buen Viaje for Spanish, that correlate to New Jersey Student Learning Standards for World Languages. We believe that in an increasingly connected world, world language proficiency is more important than ever before. Early world language instruction sets the stage for students to develop advanced levels of proficiencies in one or more languages. Younger learners possess the capacity to develop near native-like pronunciation and intonation in a new language. They have a natural curiosity about learning that is evident when they engage in learning a new language. Students will be exposed to multiple languages starting in kindergarten and gaining exposure to a more advanced language curriculum starting in third grade to prepare them for high school credit language courses when they get to middle school.
